QUESTIONS & ANSWERS WITH RACHEL MOORE
‘Your surroundings make such an impression that getting them right can be life changing. In a business, creating the right interior and environment can be incredibly beneficial to staff and attracting new clients’

WHY SHOULD I HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?
Hiring an interior designer isn’t just about making things look nice — it’s about creating a space that actually works for you and feels right. At RMD we help with every detail from architectural decisions to coving, switch plates to bespoke joinery and furniture to room styling. Our job is to make the whole process considered, help avoid expensive mistakes, and make sure the end result not only looks great but feels like you. It’s about creating a space that’s tailored for you.
WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING WITH AN INTERIOR DESIGNER? IS IT AN EASY PROCESS?
We understand many of our clients are busy, so we offer a concierge-level service where we handle as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you need us to pull everything together from start to finish or just help with certain parts, we can take the pressure off you. From design ideas to sourcing, planning, and managing all the behind-the-scenes details, liaising with your other chosen contractors. You can be as involved as you like.

WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS DO YOU UNDERTAKE?
We specialise in both residential and commercial interiors, delivering highly considered spaces that feel refined, timeless and entirely yours. For private clients, that could mean redesigning an entire house or simply refreshing a few key rooms. We can come in early at the planning stage, or later when you’re ready to add those finishing touches. For commercial spaces, we focus on creating environments that feel thoughtful and on-brand. Whatever the size or type of project, our approach is always tailored and detail-focused.
WHERE ARE YOUR PROJECTS BASED?
We’re based in Cheshire and often work in Hale, Altrincham, Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Tarporley, The Wirral, Liverpool and nearby areas. We also take on projects in London, Manchester, North Wales — many clients have holidays homes, we’re happy to travel.

HOW LONG DOES A PROJECT TAKE?
That really depends on the scope. Some projects are quick turnarounds; others take several months — or years if we’re handling a full renovation or new build. If you’re looking for a faster pace, we can suggest ways to streamline and adapt things.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR SERVICES?
Following an initial consultation, we’ll put together a fee based on your specific project and what you need from us. Once a design scheme is approved, we also offer a complete procurement, management and installation service to ensure the design is delivered exactly as intended. This approach really adds value by keeping things co-ordinated, maintaining quality, and making sure the design stays true throughout. We’re always happy to explain our process in more detail so you know exactly what to expect.
CAN I USE RMD DESIGN SERVICE BUT SOURCE ITEMS MYSELF?
We usually recommend trusting the full-service process because it helps keep the whole design consistent and on track. Sourcing things yourself can compromise the overall design and can make it tricky to manage and co-ordinate supply, quality, timelines and installs. That said, if you already have pieces you love or plan to purchase, we’re happy to work them into the design — just let us know early on so we can plan around them.
WHAT IF I DECIDE TO CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT THE INTERIOR HALFWAY THROUGH THE PROJECT?
It’s normal for tastes to change or plans to shift during a project. We’re happy to make adjustments, but keep in mind that changes might affect the overall design and could add some extra costs depending on what needs to be done.
DO YOU HAVE IN-HOUSE CONTRACTORS?
We don’t have tradespeople on the RMD team, but we work with a trusted network of professionals and can recommend good teams that fit your project. If you already have contractors lined up, that’s fine too — we’re happy to work alongside them to make sure everything comes together as planned.
MY STYLE IS QUITE DIFFERENT FROM YOURS, DOES THAT MATTER?
Not at all! We love lots of different styles and enjoy working on briefs that are ‘a bit different’ — whether that’s a country farmhouse vibe or something more modern. We’re flexible and focused on creating something designed for you.
WHAT MAKES RMD DIFFERENT?
Rachel has over 24 years of experience in the interiors industry, both in-house and on the consultancy side. She began working independently in 2004 and went on to establish RMD in its current form in 2016.
At RMD, we bring a wealth of design knowledge and industry insight to every project. Our team works collaboratively, combining our individual strengths to create thoughtful, distinctive schemes tailored to each client.
We’re deeply client-focused, and our approach is always personal. We take pride in offering a comprehensive, end-to-end service — going beyond furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to ensure every detail is considered.
We believe it’s the final layer of styling and accessories that truly completes a space and we don’t leave clients to complete this important step themselves. From artwork to soft furnishings, we carefully curate and install these finishing touches, handing over spaces that are ready to live in — complete with pictures hung and flowers in the vase, if you wish.
As a Registered Interior Designer of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), our work has met rigorous entry requirements which assess training, experience and professionalism. The BIID also requires their members to continue their professional development throughout their career to ensure their continued expertise in design process, practice, and regulatory matters. We believe that this affiliation ensures that our clients know they are working with a company that they can trust to work on their project to the highest of standards and always maintain professionalism.
